SMRT

Design Audit
Project Overview
This project evaluated SMRT Corporation as a multi-faceted urban mobility ecosystem, examining how design, infrastructure, and strategy shape public transportation in Singapore. Using a four-role framework; Mobility Connector (broker), Infrastructure Innovator (creator), Transit Spaces (landlord), and Transport Operator(distributor). The audit assessed environmental, social, service, and economic impacts against global sustainability benchmarks, identifying opportunities for SMRT to evolve into a more regenerative and future-ready transit system.
My Contributions
As a product designer, I led the synthesis of complex transport research into actionable insights. I translated these findings into clear data visualizations and communicated them through design-driven reports and presentations. My focus was on transforming operational data into strategic design opportunities.

TOOL KIT:
Figma, AI powered deep research (Chatgpt, perplexity), secondary research, team collaboration, visual brand communication, presentation.
In the SMRT project, we undertook a comprehensive strategic design audit. Our process involved synthesizing a wealth of reports and data points, mapping them using tools like Figma to form a cohesive narrative. We identified key roles: SMRT as a Broker fostering partnerships, a Creator innovating infrastructure, a Landlord integrating community spaces, and a Distributor optimizing operations. This multifaceted lens enabled us to envision a future-ready SMRT.

Our findings highlighted how SMRT can evolve. As a Broker, we saw opportunities in sustainable collaborations. As a Creator, we reimagined infrastructure as a hub for green innovation. As a Landlord, we mapped out vibrant transit-oriented developments. As a Distributor, we analyzed operational efficiencies. Our process was rooted in connecting data points, synthesizing insights into actionable strategies.

Ultimately, we transformed data into a forward-thinking vision. By interpreting SMRT’s role through these four lenses, we shaped a holistic roadmap. This process demonstrated our strategic ability to connect insights, reimagine possibilities, and guide SMRT toward a sustainable, innovative future.
